Claim and Set Up Your QR Tag
How to link a new tag to a pet profile and fill it in so it is genuinely useful to a finder.
A new tag arrives unclaimed. Claiming links it to a pet profile in your account so you control what it shows.
Claiming the tag
- 1Sign in to your HomeSafePet account.
- 2Go to your dashboard and choose to claim a QR tag.
- 3Scan the QR code on the tag, or type the profile ID printed on the back in the format HSP-XXXXXXXX.
- 4Attach the tag to an existing pet profile, or create a new profile for it.
Fill the profile in properly
The profile is the whole point of the tag, so it is worth a few extra minutes. A finder reading it should be able to identify your pet, know how to handle them, and know how to reach you.
- A clear, recent photo where your pet's face and markings are visible.
- Name, species, breed, color, and approximate size.
- Temperament notes such as shy with strangers or friendly with children.
- Medical needs a finder should know about.
- The contact options you want available, including a phone number if you want finders to be able to call.
Attaching the tag
Use a sturdy split ring or clip and check it every few months. A tag on a worn ring is the most common way a tag goes missing.
Keeping it current
Edit your pet profile any time from the dashboard. Changes are live right away and your profile ID and QR code stay the same, so there is no need to replace the tag.
